Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities found he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under domestic detention.

The one-time leader was convicted of orchestrating a armed takeover in last fall and sentenced more than over two decades in jail, but he continued under house arrest pending legal challenges.

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice the presiding justice said the action to imprison the septuagenarian politician was a precautionary step after fresh information were revealed.

This encompassed attempting to break his ankle monitor and a summons to a demonstration that could facilitate a possible escape.

Judicial Records Show Flight Fears

In a paperwork permitting the detention, Justice Moraes said intelligence from the unit overseeing the former president's confinement suggested the ex-president's aim to disable the surveillance device to ensure success in his getaway".
